TPA Uncovers $311 Million in Earmarks

Alexandria, VA - Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) today uncovered 17 earmarks worth $311 million in the Navy Research, Development, Test and Evaluation Program. This is the second major TPA finding in a series of reports on government waste, fraud and abuse. The first report unearthed $3 billion in earmarks for NASA.

“When Congress passed the earmark ban last November, it was supposed to signal the end of business as usual in Washington,” said David Williams, president of the Taxpayers Protection Alliance. “Taxpayers want to know if Congress is dedicated to expanding government or protecting taxpayers. The recent move to add millions in earmarks, while simultaneously taking credit for minimal spending cuts, shows taxpayers that Congress’ actions may not align with its rhetoric. The American people need their leaders to take responsibility for their actions, cut wasteful spending, and fulfill their promise to end earmarks once and for all.”

The 17 earmarks identified by TPA consist of:

  • $105,000,000 for Research and Development Innovation
  • $45,000,000 for EP-3/SPA systems development in the Airborne Reconnaissance Program
